Ana Maria is a Cuban American actress, writer, director and producer. She studied Film and Creative Writing at The New School and received her MFA in Fiction at Hunter College under the tutelage of Peter Carey and Colum McCann. She’s been published in The Sun Magazine, New York Press, Cosmonauts, National Geographic, and Glee magazine. Her short story, Twin Bed, in Sisters: An Anthology is out now in bookstores. She has written and performed for the Atrainplays and her work has been produced at Labyrinth Theater, EST, MTS and Nuyorican Poets Café. Her short film, everygirl, debuted at Tribeca Film Center and screened at Women in the Director’s Chair FF (Chicago), The New Festival and BAM.
Ana Maria is a founding member & Co-Artistic Director of LabRats Theater (2009-2014) and proud alum of Hedgebrook Writers Colony and New Pacific Studio in New Zealand. For 15 years, she was Teaching Artist and performer for the stage adaptation of Sandra Cisneros’s novel, The House on Mango Street and The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe both locally and nationally as part of The American Place Theatre’s Literature to Life Program.
