Carol is a Saratoga Springs native whose local family roots reach back several generations to the 1850’s. After graduating from Saratoga Springs Senior High School, Carol attended Hartwick College and majored in Music Education with a concentration in piano. Carol completed Spanish language minor studies during the January Term Inter-Regional Hispanic Studies in Mexico.
During the time between undergraduate and graduate studies, Carol’s interest in health and well-being led her to pursue studies through Albany’s Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy. During massage therapy school, Carol’s artist name Jazzage emerged. As dual pianist and vocalist, Jazzage is defined as the artful application of musical Jazz sounds to the auditory apparatus and soul via vocal and instrumental flow! This name and concept also apply to Carol’s range as healing artist and writer. Since graduating from CNW’s part-time evening program, Carol maintains the professional New York State Massage Therapy license.
Carol’s family history and visual narrative Saratoga Soul Brandtville Blues was successfully published in March 2020. Saratoga Reads has chosen Saratoga Soul Brandtville Blues as the 2021 Community Reads selection. Dedicated to life-long learning, in addition to being an Educator, Carol enjoys: music, reading, writing, socializing, libraries, the natural surroundings and the privilege of traveling near and far. The experience of ongoing professional development through The Arts and cultural immersion remains a joyful quest for Jazzage.
